Hyundai Parkade – Nominated for SAISC Steel Awards 2014

The Hyundai Parkade designed by Talmac Engineering and fabricated and erected by MPW Steel Construction has been nominated for the 2014 SAISC steel awards.

The structure boasts an innovated structural system allowing the floors to “hang” from the external structural skeleton. This innovative design opens up space and overcomes various challenges often encountered by conventional parkade structures. The roofing system requires no purlins and allows for a clear open span.

The modular design is flexible and lends itself to future expansion and various configurations are possible.

Due to the close relationship between MPW Steel Construction and Talmac Engineering, all structural detailing was able to commence and run concurrent with engineering design, thereby reducing time spent on finalising structural design and details. This resulted in the team being able to deliver the fully erected structure within a very tight project timeline.

In addition to the innovative structural design, the building incorporates a rain water harvesting system, collecting and storing all rain water, filtering it, and making use of this additional water in their car wash. All lights are activated by sensors and are automatically switched on and off when required.

Both MPW Steel Construction and Talmac Engineering are proud of this achievement and will continue to serve the industry with utmost dedication to advancement, improvement, and quality.
